What the fucking shit

Journal Entry: Tue Feb 23, 2010, 1:38 AM
happened with AA registration for Anime Expo this year? EDIT; the worst thing that happens to me personally is I get refunded $150 and have no table, but honestly- /EDIT
This shit just reminds me how much of a joke cons are, but I am still vaguely interested in the AA at AX so I am trying to make sense of what happened here.

betrayal and wisdom has the gist of it right. Staff is gone and it seems like registration is a complete test. AA is bad, but so is regular registration. All the preregistered folks data didn't get pushed over so when hotels opened up, they couldn't sign up for housing. By the time they ironed these issues out, those guys ended up either buying another registration to get to housing or missing out on cheaper housing.

Whenever they usually open up the reg stuff, staff used to be watching the forums and troubleshooting (i.e., working with Experient staff). Staff have resigned and such (as covered pretty well on animenewsnetwork.com and cosplay.com) and so they're severely inexperienced and dumping most of the issues back on Experient's customer support system.

I had heard something about the staff all leaving or threatening to leave and expected it to affect sign ups, but I didn't realize how much of a clusterfuck it was really going to be. I feel for... someone. Not sure who, lol.

yeah - I think the upper tiers of management didn't understand how important direct department staff are themselves. Hopefully for the remaining staff that gives the upper levels more appreciation for what they do.

I think I've pretty much given up on cons, since I don't do Profitable Shiny Desu and my art isn't exactly getting any more animu anytime soon. Ah well. I hope this all works out for you ;3;!

Thank you~
I made a neat and tidy sum at AX last year so I hope to at least finance my trip. You stay away from that animu my dear it is nothing but trouble I assure you

I think AX makes so much god damned money that they don't care about anything other than.. making money :D

I no longer think it's important to wait in a line for six hours just to get my "official badge holder."

Six hours? Sheeeeeaaaaaaaat. Is "official badge holder" somehow specialer than just having a regular badge? xDD

It's cause they mailed the badges home, which gives people time to copy them. Therefore you need an official badge holder to show that you paid for them D;

We copied them anyway... xD saved some money...

I had been camping the AX website for the AA registration for MONTHS. One morning (like, last week?) I log on and see in *jadedice's journal that they had sold out of AA tables and was like "Homigod, WTF?!?" I wrote a comment, and she got back to me right away saying that the night before they had been released and sold out, but that it was a glitch and there were still tables, so I should hurry. That I did and got a table at the $115 price (which is already ridiculous to me, especially when you're forced to buy the whole 4-day pass at $65. I'm unemployed man, $180 is a big deal to me). I hope I have a table... I mean, I have the receipt in my email for it. >.> Maaaaan, what a headache. I hope you get a table! I'd love to stop by and say hello <3
